Shortnin' Bread
Traditional, lyrics adapted by Eric Litwin and Michael Levine
Lyrics:
Mamaās little baby loves shortninā, shortninā
Mamaās little baby loves shortninā bread
Mamaās little baby loves shortninā, shortninā
Mamaās little baby loves shortninā bread
Went to the doctor, doctor said
Give that baby some shortninā bread
Went to the doctor, doctor said
Give that baby some shortninā bread
Mamaās little baby loves whole wheat, whole wheat
Mamaās little baby loves whole wheat bread
Mamaās little baby loves whole wheat, whole wheat
Mamaās little baby loves whole wheat bread
Went to the doctor, doctor said
Give that baby some whole wheat bread
Went to the doctor, doctor said
Give that baby some whole wheat bread
Mamaās little baby loves shortninā, shortninā
Mamaās little baby loves shortninā bread
Mamaās little baby loves shortninā, shortninā
Mamaās little baby loves shortninā bread
Activities:
Lap song: Put your child in your lap & sing the song together a cappella (without the CD). Insert basic lap song activities, like rocking, shaking, bouncing, leaning, wiggling, tickling, hugging, etc. instead of the word, āshortninā.ā It may sound silly, but youāll say, āMamaās little baby loves rockinā rockinā, Mamaās little baby loves rockinā bread.ā
Sing-along: Pat your laps to the beat, and take suggestions for different types of bread, like white bread, wheat bread, rye bread, sourdough, onion rolls, etc. āMamaās little baby loves low-carb, low-carb, Mamaās little baby loves low-carb wraps!ā
Stretchy band: If you have a stretchy band and a group of people, take suggestions for different types of food. For example, āMamaās little baby loves oatmeal oatmeal, Mamaās little baby loves oatmeal, yum.ā Swap out different foods, and then in between verses lean back and say, āYum!ā.
