You Are Clapping
By Eric Litwin and Michael Levine
Lyrics:
You are clapping
I am clapping
We are having fun
You are clapping
I am clapping
As we play our clapping song
You are shaking
I am shaking
We are having fun
You are shaking
I am shaking
As we play our shaking song
You are sneaking...
You are crying...
You are jumping...
Cha cha cha!
Activities:
Direction Dance: Either play the track on the CD and do the activities mentioned in the song (clapping, shaking, sneaking, crying, jumping) or sing it a cappella without the CD so you can take additional suggestions, such as wiggling, bouncing, running, flying, twirling, marching, etc.
Lap Song: Lap songs are a great opportunity for parent/ child bonding. Sing the song a cappella, so you can take suggestions or call them out on your own, like bouncing, shaking, rocking, leaning, wiggling, tickling, hugging, flying, etc.
Rhythm Sticks: If you have rhythm sticks available, you can do the same activity as above, a cappella, swapping out dance words with activities you can do with sticks, such as walking, running, sliding, jumping, rolling, skiing, flying, tapping, drumming, hopping, rowing, scraping, etc.
Sing Around The House: You can sing this song about anything, while doing chores around the house or eating what’s on your plate! Sing, “You are cleaning, I am cleaning, we are having fun...” or “You are brushing, I am brushing...” (while brushing teeth), etc.
