Dance Number Three
By Eric Litwin
Lyrics:
First you clap your hands (One two three)
Then you jump your jump (One two three)
And now you flip your flop (One two three)
And then you bop your top (One two three)
Everybody listen to me
This is Dance Number Three
And now you silly shake (One two three)
And then you twist your twist (One two three)
Go on now, touch your toes (One two three)
And then you stop and pose (One two three)
Everybody listen to me
This is Dance Number Three
And now you slip your slide (One two three)
And then you side to side (One two three)
Go on y’all, front to back (One two three)
And then you jump and clap (One two three)
Everybody listen to me
This is Dance Number
Everybody listen to me
This is Dance Number
Everybody listen to me
This is Dance Number Three
Activities:
Direction Dance: Start by explaining to your child to sing “1 2 3” after each line. Then, play the CD and basically follow what it says and do the motions. Most of the actions are fairly intuitive, like clap your hands and jump your jump, and you can make up what to do on the others. For example, for “flip your flop,” you can have your hands face up and then flip them face down, for “bop your top,” you can pat the top of your head, and for “front to back,” jump forward and jump back.
Instrument Play: Play drums, shakers or other fun toys to the beat while singing with the CD.
Scarf Play: Take some colorful scarves out and play with them while dancing to the song on the CD.
Foreign Languages: Introduce your child to counting in foreign languages. For example, sing “Un Deux Trois” in French or “Uno Dos Tres” in Spanish. Sing the rest of the song in English (unless you feel so inspired to call out any of the activities in other languages!).
